Fast Item Frames completely redesigns item frames to make them work much better and faster while adding new features.

The new system reduces lag, shows particles when broken, and reacts instantly when the supporting block is removed. But that’s not all! You can now dye the frame’s background and even hide the frame itself, leaving only the item inside visible.

⚠️⚠️ WARNING: Vanilla item frame entities are converted permanently — they will not return after uninstalling the mod. ⚠️⚠️

  • 🧱 Block-Based Frames: Item frames are now blocks instead of entities for greatly improved performance.
  • 🚀 Less Lag: Rendering and updates are much faster, giving big FPS boosts in areas with many frames.
  • 💥 Better Interactions: Includes proper breaking particles and full compatibility with commands like /setblock.
  • ⚡ Instant Reactions: Frames immediately respond when their supporting block is broken or moved by pistons.
  • ✅ No Downsides: Still supports multiple frames in the same block space.
  • 🌍 World Compatibility: Works seamlessly in existing worlds — vanilla frames auto-convert on load.
  • 🎨 Custom Colors: Dye item frames like leather armor to unlock 5,713,438 unique colors!
  • 🫥 Invisible Frames: Shift + right-click with an empty hand to hide the frame and show only the item.

If available for a mod, configuration is possible directly from in-game using the mod menu (requires Mod Menu by Prospector to be installed on Fabric). Please note that on older Minecraft versions installing Forge Config Screens is also a requirement.

For manual configuration using an external text editor all files are found at .minecraft/config, named as MOD_ID-client.toml, MOD_ID-common.toml, or MOD_ID-server.toml, depending on the type of config. Not all types might exist for a mod, if any at all.
